The Full Cupboard Of Life Alexander McCall Smith

This is a book in the series that begins with The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency. Precious Ramotswe, the Miss Marple of Botswana, is the main character. Charming, honest, funny, "sparkles with African sunshine."

Myths, Lies, and Downright Stupidity

John Stossel is the anchor for 20/20. This is great-a 3CD set, that validates everything Jonathan has been telling me, and at any rate I feel much better. Stossel debunks a lot of stridently held truths, and some very common myths. This was an interesting thing to have heard after The Appeal, by John Grisham.

The Appeal John Grisham

As my Aunt Nanette said, an Erin Brockavich kind of story, but the good guys don't win. Not a comfortable read. My husband and I listened to this on CD on a car trip, and I got to finish it before he did. He was really enjoying the struggles of the "good guys", and I can't wait until he finishes the last surprizing CD. I enjoyed it.

Oil Upton Sinclair

This is supposed to be the novel on which the movie "There Will Be Blood" is based. Michael says the movie write read the first two chapters, and created the script-a good script, with an Academy Award nominate role for Daniel Day Lewis. But the script write took incredible license; the book has so many more themes. The liner notes say "avarice, corruption, socialism, communism, a Hollywood actress, oil magnates, and a crusading evangalist." And a lot of history of a really interesting period in American history.
