Finger Lickin' Fifteen. Janet Evanovich

Jon ordered this one for me on Kindel, and gave me a bad time about the title. Turns out it was a reference to fried chicken, and of course number 15 in the Stephanie Plum novels. This was a good one, with the usual car fires, bombings, Ranger, Grandma, Lula etc. Really great escapist fiction, and very funny.

Echo Park Michael Connely

Jon and I listened to this on tape on our trip to Mammoth Lakes. We were so interested in the story, that we had to sit in the parking garage when we got there to finish the book. One of the other meeting guests asked us if we were ok, because our faces were so serious. I like the way Connely writes, and the suspense in this story, the twists and turns, and the character development were excellent.

Shanghai Girls Lisa See

I like this author, and I liked this book. The story of two Chinese sisters, it began in about 1935 in Shanghai, and ended in about 1955 in Los Angeles. Fascinating story of life in China, and life for the Chinese emigrating, and living in Los Angeles. One sister was involved in the film industry, so the reader got a picture of films, and the story took place in an area I had been in LA, which always makes it intriguing.

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies Jane Austen and Seth Graham-Smith

If you read Jane Austen's in high-school or college, and struggled through them, this novel is for you! It is the period satire of manners etc. with kung fu, ninjas, and zombies thrown in. One review I read said it was a lot of fun. It is. A little creepy, but a lot of fun. The five sisters who are the main characters have been educated in Japan in fighting, and have been charged by the government to kill the undead creatures prowling the countryside, until of course they daughters are married.
