Pillars of the Earth

This is a Ken Follet novel, chosen for the Summer Workshop. I read it, Jon listened to it in the car. We both really liked it. The story of the building of cathedrales, and the men who built them, in the 1100's in England. Including the history of the times; Thomas Beckets murder, and the coming of Henry 2.

The Tender Bar

A novel written by J R Moehringer about a boy growing up "as a fatherless youth and the companionship he found ... among the Dickensian characters at a neighborhood bar." Read in May, but I guess I forgot to write it down.

Outrageous Hero

This is the biography of B.T.Collins, written by his sister Maureen. Really interesting story, well-written, of a man Jon knew a lot better than I did. A Viet Nam vet, who went on to a career in politics in California. A charming, irreverent, outrageous Irishman. His thought "is the world a better place because you are there?" Not to self, pay more attention.
