The Confession, John Grisham

I really have enjoyed all of Grisham's novels, and this one is no exception. This story centers around a man on death row, an innocent man, who was coerced into admitting the killing of a high school girl he knew. He's black, she's white; he was a high school football star, and she was a cheerleader. The real killer comes forward, too late, but leads a minister and the defense attorney on a chase to clear the name of the wrongly accused man. The death penalty in Texas, and the actions of the police in the small town are also front page news.

The Charming Quirks of Others, Alexander McCall Smith

There isn't really anything new in this book, but it's like checking in with some really good friends, and seeing what's going on in their lives. Isabel does her usual gentle job of solving problems. I loved it.
